Our Strategy
Many definitions of recycling have been made in the literature, but we see recycling as a strategic effort to increase the coexistence of humanity and the ecosystem without using limited natural resources. As Harzberg, we do not produce any products that do not provide benefits for our customers and the earth, we try to offer value for our customers with innovative products that will increase the ability of humanity and the ecosystem to coexist.
We as Harzberg company realize that sustainability is now a matter of life and death. Protecting the resources that are depleting day by day on our blue planet has now become a much more important issue for all citizens of the world. In this direction, we continue our recycling investments in Bad Lippspringe, Germany, with the latest technology, the best machinery and equipment in the sector. From the very beginning, Harzberg continues to include all environmental aspects in its investment planning to become one of the most modern and creative recycling companies in Europe. Because sustainability is an integral part of our innovation and development strategy.
Plastic packaging has become the safer, lighter and most cost-effective way to protect and present consumer products, including food and beverages, around the world. This global preference for plastics in consumer packaging is causing rapid growth and the production of millions of tons of plastic per year. However, some plastics can be thrown into landfills or nature instead of being recycled.
We as Harzberg
We know that sustainability is an integral part of our innovation and development strategy.
Although the recycling market has grown steadily after the European Union committed to at least 25% of packaging materials made from recycled materials by 2025, the need appears to be much greater than the current capacity. More business opportunities have emerged in this area, with the enactment of a new packaging law in Germany that aims to increase the recycling rate of plastic packaging from 36% to 63% by 2022. In Germany, one of the most important countries of the recycling industry, PET (polyethylene terephthalate) beverage bottles meet the raw material required for the recycling of plastic waste at a significant level. The supply of recycled plastic pet is increasing year by year. The tightly fixed circulation system from production to recycling of PET bottles, recycling from PET bottle to PET bottle is possible.
Today, PET packaging has also become lighter in weight, based on the principle of producing less waste. The 0.5 liter water bottle, which was produced as 22 grams in 1984, has been reduced to 10.5 grams over the years. 30-35 years ago, 1 ton of PET raw material Plastic packaging approximately 45,000 PET water bottles were produced, now approximately 95,000 pet water bottles are produced from the same raw material.
In Germany, which has achieved great success in recycling, the recycling rate of plastic packaging is targeted to increase from 36% to 63% by 2022.
